Back to reality

Today, my maternity leave ends. Before Owen, me & Adam used to take vacations quite frequently. I thought going back after having almost 2 weeks off was hard. Now? Add having a baby + 12 weeks to enjoy his squishy face, & 2 weeks was nothing.

As I sat in the nursery yesterday morning rocking Owen to sleep, I thought of how lucky that God trusted me & Adam to raise this little man. Every day I'm thankful that he is here, he is ours, he is so absolutely perfect.

It's amazing as soon as you see two lines pop up on that test, how you fall in love instantly. You don't know this little person growing inside of you. You don't know if it's a he or a she. Or if it will have your blue eyes or his dirty blonde hair. All you know is that this baby that's growing inside of you is perfect in every way imaginable & you would do anything to keep it from harm.

Today, as I'm helping bring new babies into this world, I will think of where I was 12 weeks ago… meeting my blue-eyed, blonde hair baby boy for the very first time.

And I thought 2 weeks flew by…

Dr Seuss

While I was pregnant, Adam had some baby hats, diaper covers & booties crochet for us. We didn't know the gender of the baby (yes, we were those people!) & so they all had to be gender neutral.

Adam surprised me with a few extras before our baby shower that I adore.  This was one of them.
Side note: The nursery is Dr Seuss. I absolutely love the nursery & it is my favorite room in our house! Owen seems to love it too!

How cute are they that they're Dr Seuss?! The model is pretty adorable himself!

Love those rolls & chubby thighs!

I had to add this one just because I love his facial expression & the way he's sitting.

And this is what he thought of the whole photo shoot & having to put on the hat & bow tie. "Really, mom?!"

Unfortunately, Owen's head has always been on the big side, so he didn't fit into some of the hats made. They are being tucked away for the next baby!

Love our little Dr. Seuss.

PS: I'm so saving these pictures for his future girlfriends! Isn't that my right as a mom?!

Menu Planning Monday

Since Owen was born, I've been looking for ways to make everyday things seem easier. I used to Menu Plan, but fell off the band wagon a long time ago. I remember how much I loved Menu Planning. It not only makes the dreaded Wal-Mart trip much quicker since you aren't wandering aimlessly around grabbing random items, but it makes it much easier at night when you know what you are going to make. The past 3 weeks, I've been Menu Planning & it makes the evening flow smoother.

Here's my menu for the week:

Monday - Chicken Parmesan Burgers, Veggie
Tuesday - Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Bread
Thursday - BBQ (sorry, no link.. it's already cooked in the freezer), Potatoes
Friday- Leftovers
Saturday- Out to eat
Sunday - Petite Lasagnas

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Mom!

I just wanted to take the time & say happy (belated) birthday to my mom! Her birthday was yesterday & I wasn't on the computer, but wanted to make sure to mention it.

I'm so grateful for you & can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you!

Here we go again...

Hey y'all!

Welcome to my corner of the internet! My name is Whitney (if you haven't already figured that one out). I'm a twenty-something year old trying out this ole' blog thing again, mainly due to the fact that I just had an amazing little boy (more on that in a minute) & I want to be able to document his childhood.

I'm married to a wonderful man, Adam. We were married on October 11th, 2008. I can truly say I'm married to my best friend. He teaches me, loves me unconditionally, challenges me to become the better person that he knows that I am, & made me realize that there could be a "happily ever after". I couldn't ask for a better man to share my hopes & dreams with for the rest of my life.

On March 1st, 2012, we found out we were expecting our first baby. It was the most intense, sudden love I have ever felt before.

And on November 7th, 2012, we welcomed Owen Reid into the world at 11:17pm… all 8lb, 11oz of him! He is by far the best thing that could have ever happened to us. We are head-over-heels in love with this little mini-me of Adam. Parenthood has been shocking, rewarding, & the craziest & wildest ride we have ever been on. I can't wait to see what the future holds for our little family!

We can't forget about our firstborn though. Meet Juno. She's a 1/2 Shar Pei, 1/2 Lab & was our first baby. She was welcomed into our family in November of 2008. She has been an awesome big sister to Owen & I can only imagine how he will one day be chasing her around.

I can't wait to share our family's journeys with you.
