Sorry y'all

I've been in a blogging funk. I have things I can post (hello, I got a new tattoo .. in honor of Jessie), but just been in a funk with posting. Hopefully, within the next few days, I can get out of it and start updating you guys on what's been going on in my corner of the world.

But, quick question.. for all of you Blackberry or iPhone users... what do you like/dislike about your phone? I'm really wanting one (if my husband will let me .. wait.. I feel like I'm asking dad haha!), but can't decide which one. Right now, I'd pick the Blackberry. Let me know your thoughts!

Menu Planning Monday

We are officially back on the Menu Planning Wagon. I've learned that if we fall off, our diet goes out the window along with our budget. This is our menu for the next two weeks. We went shopping today (yay for Mondays off with Adam!) and don't plan to hit up Wal-Mart until after Memorial Day, except for milk.

Monday (today) - We're taking out my dad for his birthday to a yummy pizza place
Tuesday - Chicken fajitas (marinading it in this), Mashed Potatoes
Wednesday - Zucchini "Crab" Cakes , Mashed Potatoes, and Green Beans
Thursday - 3 Cheese Baked Spaghetti, Garlic bread
Friday - Buffalo Chicken Strips (Adam's coming up with his own recipe), Baked Fries
Saturday - We're heading to the winery with Adam's brother and sister-in-law.. so winery food. YUM!
Sunday - Happy Mother's Day! We're having Stuffed Bell Peppers

Monday - Kabobs with pork, onions, green peppers, and pineapple! They are delicious!
Tuesday - Turkey Meatball Subs with some veggie.. not sure what sounds good with it
Wednesday - Chicken Stir Fry
Thursday - Sloppy Joes, Baked Fries (yes, we need to get rid of some potatoes!)

Lisa Leonard Designs

If you remember, I posted about my sister's giveaway a while back. It was for a Lisa Leonard necklace. I adore her work!

I actually won! And I swear it wasn't planned to be that way. No, really! I chose this design with it saying "True Love" on one heart, and "10.11.08" on the other. Sweet, right?

I received it in the mail a while back - I know, bad blogger - and I LOVE it! I would highly recommend her products. Plus, she was so very easy to get ahold of and responded to my emails very quickly. Unfortunately, my camera broke and so I can't post a picture of it. As soon as we figure out what's wrong with it, I'll post a picture.

Thank you so much Alaina for this giveaway, and to Lisa Leonard for giving me a gorgeous necklace! I love it!

Couch to 5k Running Program

If anyone knows anything about me, it is that I hate to run. I feel like I look like a complete idiot.. ya know... because everyone watches me when I run. Ha! Also, I get out of breath after 0.0005 seconds (yes, that quickly!). I wish that I loved to run. We live in a great location to run, considering the park is right down the street. In all reality, I want to run. I want to LIKE to run. My husband runs outside during the summer, and I want to run with him without being 5 miles behind him.

So ya know, I have to face my fears and start somewhere with running. That is why, my friends, I started the Couch to 5K Running Program today.

And to tell you the truth.. I loved it! They say that in intervals (which you start out with on this program) you burn more calories. I can definitely see why! My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. Really. I sweat more than I have in awhile. I know, it makes for a sexy visual.

Anyways, I challenge YOU to start this program with me. It's free.. and I even gave you the link to print off. I know my sister, Alaina, is going to start it with me.. (come on Tara, you can do it too!). We can keep each other on track. You know you want to! It's only 3 days a week for 25 minutes. How hard can it be?!

Let me know if you are going to join us by posting me a comment.

If I can do it, surely you can too...

My husband just about had a heart attack.

Juno scratched our hardwood floor (that just got redone recently) horribly, horribly bad. As soon as you walk in the front door. And we're trying to sell our house. It's very noticeable. Adam is estimating it to cost $1000 that we didn't expect to have to pay to fix this little bitty spot. Damnitttt!!!

As my husband started having chest pain (not quite, but close) and Juno came running to me trembling like no other because Daddy was yelling, I knew something had to be done. We are going to be building a house soon (in less than a year), and wanted hardwood floors, but with her already scratching this floor, how can we expect our new hardwood to be any different? Juno didn't know she was doing any harm.

How do you keep your (inside) dogs from scratching your floors? We keep her nails trimmed on a regular basis... anything else?!

Please... someone... anyone...

Success!

The CF Walk was a complete success! I was so, so, proud to be a part of it, especially Team Jessie!

And now onto statistics..

Drumroll please...

Our team raised the most money out of teams competing in our chapter!! Wanna know how much?! $3700!! Do you think Jessie would be proud or what??

Because of this (and yes, they told me this), it was the FIRST year that our chapter has ever made goal by the time the walk is here. Usually, they do extra fundraising in the fall to meet the goal.

Our chapter's goal was $11,500 and we raised $11,600. I'm so freakin' excited! Can you tell?!

Because we raised the most money, me and Sally got to cut the ribbon to start off the walk. It was a bittersweet moment, because all we could think about is that Jessie is supposed to be right there with us.

And just a few random pictures from that day..

Juno even walked with us! (She's quite the supporter...)

The kids with the infamous Grandpa Joe

I just want to thank EVERYONE who showed up that day, who donated, and/or sent their prayers. Jessie was watching over us that day.. I have no doubt. I especially want to send an extra shout out to my sister, Alaina, since she helped me co-lead our team. It couldn't have gone better in my eyes!

Next year, we will start fundraising in January... so be on the lookout! Also, if you wanted to still go ahead and donate to our team... we are still collecting donations to the CFF all year round! It doesn't stop now. Again, there is no amount too small.

Thank you again! I sure Jessie couldn't be prouder right now =)

(This picture is *so* Jessie.. attitude and all! Taken in July 2008 while we were celebrating her 21st bday)

PS.. Thanks dad for the pictures!
